The 11th International Conference on BIM Technology

The 11th International Conference on BIM Technology took place on 30 – 31 May 2024, aiming to explore the latest advancements in the construction industry and gather the global industry leaders, stakeholders and scholars of the construction and IT industries for sharing and networking.

At the expo, LSCM showcased three construction related technologies, namely the “3D Spatial Data Platform for Modular Integrated Construction (MiC)”, “Embedding Intelligence into BIM” and “Digital Twin-based ESG Platform for Property and Facility Management Industries”, which were jointly developed with the university research teams to foster the development of the construction industry through the adoption of innovative technologies.

In the "Smart Living Partnership Awards 2023/24" programme co-organised by ET Net and Cyberport, the cutting-edge technologies developed by LSCM and those developed in collaboration with universities were awarded in various categories, recognising the R&D strength of the Centre and its contribution to fostering Hong Kong’s development as a smart city.

At the award presentation ceremony, LSCM received the awards in the categories of “Educational Technology”, “Health Technology”, and “Property Technology”, etc. The awards were undoubtedly a great encouragement to the LSCM team which motivated us to continue our effort in the research and development of innovative technology to enhance the industry’s productivity and the quality of life of the community.


LOGTECH Expo 2024

LSCM participated in the LOGTECH Expo 2024 on 12 – 13 June 2024 to showcase the Centre’s latest  logistics technologies. The expo aims to keep the SMEs abreast of the latest technological trends in the industry, encouraging the development of the industry towards smart and green logistics.

At the expo, LSCM showcased the e-Smart Port Platform (e-SPP) developed under the initiative of the Transport and Logistics Bureau. Mr Eric CHAU, Senior Project Manager, LSCM, also introduced this data-smart infrastructure and inter-organisational software platform which facilitates the sharing of port and logistics information within the port community, at the presentation session.

Ms Mable CHAN, JP, Permanent Secretary for Transport and Logistics, visited LSCM’s booth to exchange her views and ideas towards the development of logistics technology with the LSCM team.  The visitors were interested in the technology applied in the eSPP which could facilitate information sharing.

17th Health Expo

The 17th Health Expo was held on 14-16 June 2024 to showcase the latest healthcare products and technologies in the market. This year, the “Smart Wellness” Zone was newly included in the Expo to showcase the latest gerontechnology which could enhance the quality of life of the elderly.

At the expo, LSCM demonstrated the Smart Elderly Service Robot, e-Publishing Platform and Robo-9: Sensor Fusion Technologies for the Visually Impaired to the industry practitioners and the public. In particular, the Smart Elderly Service Robot which consists of vital sign measuring devices, such as blood pressure measuring and pulse monitoring devices, was very popular amongst the elderly visitors.

Robo-9, the first robotic guide dog developed in Hong Kong, received a lot of enquiries from the media and the industry practitioners at the event. The visitors listened to the “Authors x AI Real Voice Audiobook” and learned about the functions and features of the e-Publishing Platform.

E&M I&T Day 2024

LSCM joined the E&M I&T Day 2024 organised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) on 9-10 July 2024 by showcasing the centre’s latest technology at the exhibition and arranging tech demo for the participants of the event. The E&M I&T Day served as a platform to provide the updates about the development of innovation and technology to the industry practitioners and to demonstrate the AI application in the E&M industry.

Apart from showcasing the latest technology “AI-empowered Digital Twin Platform for Smart Building Management”, which is an innovative solution for energy saving, carbon reduction and smart maintenance of buildings’ HVAC systems, at the exhibition, LSCM also arranged tech demo for the delegates from the event for them to learn about the latest technologies developed by the Centre. This also facilitated their exchange of views and ideas towards technology development with the LSCM team.

The industry practitioners visited LSCM’s booth  to obtain more information about the “AI-empowered Digital Twin Platform for Smart Building Management”.   The guests were especially interested in the  technologies developed to support the home quarantine measures of the Government of the HKSAR during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 9th Golden Age Expo and Summit

The 9th Golden Age Expo & Summit organised by the Golden Age Foundation was held on 2 – 4 August 2024 to showcase the latest technology, innovative products and services in the elderly service industry, and gather local and international influential thinkers and leaders from various sectors to share innovative ideas and experiences.

Mr Simon WONG, MH, FCILT, Chief Executive Officer, LSCM, introduced the latest technology developed by LSCM at the Summit. In the presentation, he introduced the Robo-9 which was designed to enhance the mobility of the elderly and individuals with visual impairment, and gave details about the Tele-practice Platform System which was developed to facilitate the provision of remote healthcare and rehabilitation services, as well as collaboration among different services providers, NGOs and therapists.

At the exhibition, LSCM showcased two innovative technologies developed to foster smart ageing, namely the Smart Elderly Service Robot and Follow-me Robot, which could enhance the efficiency of the elderly service industry.

Apart from developing advanced technology for the industry, LSCM is also dedicated to facilitating  the smart city development in Hong Kong.

The visitors were interested in the Follow-me robot and visited LSCM’s booth to learn about how it could assist the workers in delivering heavy items.  The Smart Elderly Service Robot consists of vital sign measuring devices for monitoring the health conditions of the elderly.
