Concerted efforts to combat COVID-19
As the Hong Kong SAR Government extended the use of the StayHomeSafe System to help contain the spread of COVID-19 in Hong Kong, the demand for the systems has been increasing rapidly since early February. Despite our relentless efforts in developing the system, our existing manpower was not sufficient for us to meet the increasing demand for the system to monitor the people under home quarantine. Therefore, LSCM rallied over 100 volunteers through the Hong Kong Disciplined Services Volunteer Corps to offer the most needed help to us in March. The volunteer teams were comprised of both serving and retired staff from the Correctional Services Department (CSD), Customs and Excise Department (CED), Drainage Services Department (DSD), Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF), Hong Kong Government Flying Services (GFS), Immigration Department (Immigration), as well as Water Services Department (WSD). After receiving the training from LSCM teams, the volunteers were competent in performing the quality control and packaging tasks before the systems were sent to the boundary control points for distribution to the persons under quarantine.
LSCM appreciated very much all the volunteers from the government departments for their sincere support and their contribution in the fight against COVID-19. This really shows the concerted efforts of all in combating COVID-19.
