LSCM revealed its strength in Gerontechnology and Smart Living Technology in its 5th Roadshow
To offer the general public and industry players a glimpse of the latest gerontechnologies and smart living technologies developed by LSCM and its partners, LSCM co-organised the “Smart Living Gerontechnology Roadshow 2019” with The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) at Olympian City 2 on 14-17 April 2019. More than 300 guests attended the Opening Ceremony of the Roadshow and were greatly impressed by the various technology showcases and performances.
The pioneering gerontechnologies featured at the Roadshow were the Elderly Lifter, “Follow-Me” Wheelchair Robot & Platooning Technology, as well as Smart-service Robot. Other award-winning smart living technologies were also demonstrated at the event. They included the RFID Blind Cane Navigation System, Ultra-Wideband Activity Monitoring System for Solitary Elderly and Infrared Thermal Sensing Safety Alert System for the Elderly, etc.
Other highlights of the Opening Ceremony were the demonstration of the award-winning “iWheel” device developed by the students of Buddhist Wong Wan Tin College, and the special performance by TWGHs E Major Ensemble, an orchestra formed by a group of elderly people.
With the enthusiastic support of HKCSS, Olympian City, 29 trade associations and organisations from the elderly service sector, as well as 7 exhibitors, the 4-day event succeeded in encouraging the industry and general public to embrace technology in their daily life.
Looking forward, LSCM will continue its efforts in the research and development of novel technologies to help industries enhance work efficiency, improve people’s quality of living and assist in transforming Hong Kong into a smart city.
