According to "2016 Population By-census Thematic Report: Older Persons", the Hong Kong ageing trend in the population continued and the pace of ageing became faster in the past decade. The proportion of older persons (aged 65 and over) in the total population rose from 12.4% in 2006 to 15.9% in 2016. As compared with 10 years ago, the proportion of older persons living with spouse only and those living alone rose by from 32.8% in 2006 to 38.3% in 2016. Living alone induces physiological and psychological adverse effect among older adults (Ong, A., Uchino, B. & Wethington, E., 2016). To reduce the elderly loneliness problem, many social elderly organizations spend much psychological and social work expertise resources in elderly caring interventions and cannot catch up the actual elderly caring demand. This project aims to apply latest AI technologies to develop an innovative call caring system for caregiver so that they can retrieve the older adult past conversation key highlights and generate suggested caring script to increase the caring intervention efficiency and effectiveness. |
