Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) is a flagship event jointly hosted by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to promote technological application and innovation as a promising solution to enhance the quality of life of the elderly and people with disabilities in both the community and institutional setting.   LSCM showcased a number of our latest gerontechnologies that are suitable for elderly services, including AI Enabled Elderly Call Caring System, Robo-9, Deliverbot, Smart Service Robots, Ultra-Wideband (UWB) Monitoring Technologies, as well as Video Analytics for Elderly Rehabilitation Training.  

LSCM was excited to collaborate with Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to organise the Summit together with its Asian Logistics, Maritime and Aviation Conference (ALMAC) on 17 November 2020.    In view of the current development of COVID-19 in Hong Kong, the event was conducted in a virtual format. With the theme of “Tapping the Opportunities of Technology Advancement in the New Normal”, heavyweights from the government and industries gave exclusive insights on the accelerated development of innovation and technology during this unprecedented situation with COVID-19, and how to leverage technologies to cope with the challenges ahead, at the Summit.  

This year, China Hi-Tech Fair was successfully held on 11-15 November 2020 at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. LSCM joined this signature event under the Hong Kong Pavilion, which was co-organised by the Innovation and Technology Commission and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. The Centre’s latest technologies, Follow-me Robot and Smart Lifter were introduced to the cross-border participants.

Organised by The Construction Industry Council (CIC), Celebration of BIM Achievement 2020 was held online on 10 Nov 2020.  This celebration aims to recognise outstanding projects, organisations and individuals for their contributions in adopting and promoting Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the construction industry in Hong Kong.   With the project of “RFID-Enabled Building Information Modeling (BIM) Platform for Prefabrication Housing Production in Hong Kong”, LSCM and its collaboration partner, the University of Hong Kong, were excited to receive the award of “Projects 2020” at the event.
