The fourth edition of the LSCM Roadshow 2016 held on 17-20 March has turned into a “Hong Kong LSCM Innovative Technology Carnival”. Under the theme of “Industrial Intellectualisation & Technological Innovation Era”, the event staged at the Stars Atrium, Plaza Hollywood and attracted more than 300 guests to participate in the kick-off ceremony.
This year, LSCM’s latest robotic technology was featured including a “4D Food Printer” developed from 3D printing technology for food making, an “Insertion Telerobot” with embedded sensors to handle heavy, dangerous, monotonous and repetitive tasks, and the latest “Autonomous Guided Vehicles” (AGV) deployed with Ultra-wideband UWB for navigating in warehouse environment. The Centre has also invited football robots from Diocesan Boys’ School and badminton robots from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, for which the LSCM R&D Centre hoped to promote robotic technology in bringing “reindustrialisation in Hong Kong” a step forward.
In addition, a signing ceremony for memorandum of understanding between LSCM and Barrier Free Access (HK) Limited was held during the event. A collaborative project for the RFID Reader White Cane System regarding a cloud platform for communal navigation and information services for the visually impaired marked an official kick-off.
Various technologies to be applied in social services sector were also demonstrated, such as the “Infrared Thermal Sensing System”, which can effectively collect the data of the elderly’s daily behavior and detect whether there is any home accidents occurred through a special image monitoring system.
With the enthusiastic support of 20 trade associations and organisations from the related fields of logistics, retail and construction, as well as participation from Customs and Excise Department and 15 exhibitors, the 4-day event marked with tremendous accomplishments.
