The LSCM R&D Centre has produced a promotional video featuring 15 innovative technologies developed for the elderly and people with special needs. The featured technologies have been funded by Innovation and Technology Fund and developed by the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA), the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the LSCM R&D Centre.
To arouse stronger interest amongst the public, we have invited an esteemed veteran Hong Kong actress Ms Helena Law Lan to try the enabling technologies and take part in the filming. Mr Simon Wong, Chief Executive Office of the LSCM R&D Centre illustrated to Ms Law how innovations would facilitate the daily life of the seniors and unprivileged people.
The LSCM R&D Centre affirms that technology makes life better and benefits our community. Leveraging on our core competence, the LSCM R&D Centre has developed some assistive tools for the social service sector including "smart communication cards" for the elders and speech-impeded people, "special-image monitoring system", "home-stay wellness sensing system", RFID key chain and vest, "smart guide cane" and recognition system for the visually impaired.
